Last night Ellie, our dog, got up in the middle of the night to go out. Not just once
or twice, but FIVE TIMES!! Do you have any idea how annoying this is?? (Okay,
so those of you with kids are just laughing, but this is not a baby, this is a
five year old dog!! Who is our baby, of course) So, over the period of my
seven-hours of sleep I had to get up five times. It is normal for her to get up
once in the night. I don’t like it, but I am used to it. She usually gets up between three and four. I am thinking
we had this over-active evening due to her ear infection. Maybe her meds are
making her pee (dear God I hope this isn't it because she is on it for nine
more days!!)?? Maybe her ear is bothering her and keeping her up?? Anybody
ever had to deal with this and have any suggestions?
Honestly, the most annoying part is that she will only go out for me. She
will go out with Nick during the day, but when it comes to night pee, I am the
only one for her. She will sit at the end of the bed and chomp(basically saying
Get-Up-Get-Up-Get-Up-Get-Up…), and if that does not get me up then she will get
on the bed, put her two front paws on my shoulder, and rock back and forth to
nudge me awake…I swear to God. It would be really sweet…if it was not 1am,
2:30am, 3:15am, 4:45am and 6:30am. If you have any suggestions or advice, I am
all ears!
***update on the post from yesterday. My work does not want to file an
insurance claim, so we are going to have to clean it up ourselves. Awesome.***

What a Day!
I bet you all were beginning to think I was not going to post today...WRONG!
Here I am ready to tell you about a ridiculous day. First off, I had to be at
work at 8:30 this morning. Now, I know lots of you think this would be a dream,
but for me it is early. I hate having to be anywhere early. It just makes me
tired for the rest of the day. Blah. Anyway, I had this oh-so important conference
call at 8:30, so I rush off to work, only to find that it has been canceled.
Great.
I did then plan to come home for lunch, clean up a bit, and then post here on good old Bio Girl, but at the last minute Tarp (the guy I work with) wanted to take me out for Jim's Birthday. Was Jim, Tarp's boyfriend, with us for his own birthday celebration, you might ask...nope. He couldn't come. Tarp had gotten all excited about the Mexican Soup and once Jim backed out I got to go to the Birthday lunch instead!! How great. I will take as many birthday lunches in a year as I can get!
Okay, so here is when my day gets a little more interesting. (Why did I tell you the first two stories then...I don't really know) Okay, so Tarp and I get back from lunch, no big deal, but then we hear...there has been a leak....not really a leak, but more like an explosion. You see, my lab was recently taken over by a new company and we shrank way down in size. The building we were using was way too big for the five of us that stayed, so they closed down about two thirds of it. In order to save money in the summer, we did not have the air-conditioning on over on the other side. I guess they thought that this was such an amazing money saver, that they would also not turn heat on in the winter. Smart, right??
So, yep....you guessed it. Our water lines busted. I guess they busted some time yesterday, but since we never go over there, we had no idea. That is until someone noticed water pouring out of the back of the building. It. Was. Everywhere. There were waterfalls pouring out of the ceiling tiles (what was left of the tiles anyways...most had fallen out of the frames along with their insulation. There were a couple of inches of water everywhere. We had been using the rooms as storage, and all of these computers, printers and copiers are ruined. We couldn't find a way to get the water turned off, and Tarp and I kept telling them to call the fire department, but nobody would listen to us. They called a plumber instead.
So, now we have a HUGE mess. I mean, it is really crazy. Not sure what we are going to do about it just yet, but it made for a really exciting day!
So now I am home from work and I hear the timer going off for the pork chops...looks like that is my queue to hit publish and lay on the couch for the rest of the evening! (Oh...are you amazed that in my crazy day I found time to get home and marinate pork chops?? I thought so! I had to come home and change my socks because my feet were all pruned like when you ride to many water rides at an amusement park, so I started dinner while I was home! Yum!!)

Bitter Cold
It is ridiculously cold outside. I don't mean cold enough for a little snow,
I am talking burn your face off with a gust of wind kind of cold. I am a fan of
the whole winter deal. I love a good snowstorm. I hate to say it, but I really
love an ice storm as well. What I HATE is when it gets this cold. We had dinner
with Nick’s dads last night, and it said the temperature with wind-chill in
was...wait for it...NEGATIVE EIGHT!!!
I find it all a little depressing. I guess I am just ready for January to be done. What I would really love is a few weeks off work to spend in sunny Pensacola Beach (yes I know it is cold there too, but picture it in July...now you’re with me). Pensacola is just good for my soul. It is our family vacation spot, and when the weather gets like this, it calls to me. What I really need is to get over the January blues...or just for the sun to come back out!

Pancakes
Well, I'm back! I have this goal to see how many days I can post in a row. My goal is 365...but I really hope I get to seven. One whole week of posting! This inspiration came from my aunt, Mrs. Who, who is able to post every single weekday on insightful and touching topics. My topics will be more of the genre "Why I love Futurama", or "The Joy of Gravy"...but still, they will be posts!
As a slight side note, I have decided I am an idiot. I so confidently announced at SIS day yesterday that I am a really funny person. WHY would I say this??? Now there is all this pressure...I just MUST think of funny things to say! So, I must apologize. I will eventually be funny on here (I hope) but you all are going to have to wait through my humor block. Once I forget that I need to think of something funny, I am sure the humor will come back.
Now instead of a laugh until you cry post, I will tell you of my morning. When I woke up my house was full of a smell...the wonderful smell of pancakes! This is one of the thousands of reasons I love Nick. This is common in our house. Sunday mornings he gets up before me and makes us breakfast. Then we lay around and watch TV and just laugh and relax. It's perfect. Now, as I sit here writing this post, he is in the laundry room laying hardwood floor, (the floor needed to be refinished due to this little accident I had while he was out of town this summer. He had done enough then to make the floor functional, but had put the replacing of the wood and refinishing until now) I am just amazed with him. Even when I got home yesterday from lunch out with the girls, he was working on the addition because it was nice enough to work outside. He never complains, he just does what needs to be done. I know lots of girls think it, especially ones that just got married three months ago, but I am just so lucky. He's the best!
So that's it for now. I will see you all tomorrow!

And Here We Are....
So...welcome to the new blog! This has been something I have been rolling around in my head for a really long time, but just never got around to starting. For those of you who know me (who am I kidding, you all know me, I don't really think strangers are flocking to my new blog) know that I have been writing the ZPO website for about a year and a half now. I love doing it and have always thought I would enjoy a personal blog as well. So...here we are!
Now that I have gone to the trouble to start it, I feel as if I need to say something great...hmmm...I will tell you all that my perfect cat Sammie had to go to the vet yesterday (actually so did the perfect dog Ellie, and I brought them both at the same time, all by myself! AMAZING!!) Anyways, to the point, the vet said that Sam needs Geriatric Blood work. Wait a minute. WHAT?? That's right, geriatric. I mean, I know he is older, but he isn't THAT old! He is fifteen...
I don't want to talk about it.
Leave me alone.
Okay, it is midnight and I am really tired and my eyes hurt from messing with this stupid template. This first post is lame...real lame, but I guess I can only get better from here. Thanks for reading!
