- We will start the year off right with this post talking about how Boo broke into my office building to help me paint... it resulted in one of my favorite pictures of her of all time :)
- Maybe not my best writing, but in the timeline of life this post about my first day of teaching feels like a Best Of sorta moment.
- And then a post from early February where I talk about missing Missy as we approached the two year anniversary of losing her. I can't believe we are now so close to three years. The heartache never goes away.
- A sweet post about my sweet boy. Lord, I love him so.
- And then it snowed.... a lot.
- In March I wrote a post which talked a little more about my job and my passion for public health. It's different, but I like it, and if I can find the time, I will write more like this one in 2016.
- Then, later in March I went to DC, and it was awesome.
- Next up, mainly a picture post, but it's EASTER, so must be documented. Plus, there is the good old fence.
- Ah, these posts bring back good memories... here is a Cardinals tee-ball post, where Henry got the game ball. LOVE.
- And then the Birthday madness began. We are big on traditions around here, so here is the annual birthday letter, and of course the birthday slideshow... plus, the always important BIRTHDAY PARTY.
- And then a post showing how much my sweet boy has grown from the start of kindergarten to the end. MY HEART.
- And maybe my favorite post of all year, Henry's last at Bat in tball.
- The most epic vacation of all time. Part one, two, three, and four.
- And then, just because, my post on my thoughts on Disney, because Disney now owns a piece of my heart.
- A couple of posts about my run in with a bee.
- Oh, another top post. When we found the Snaaaaake.
- And another trip out of town, this time to the mountains for the second annual Cousin Cabin weekend.
- There was Halloween, which I am mainly including because I adore Henry's costume...
- Then I went to Chicago... this year had a lot of travel.
- Then, in November or Niece was born!
- Also in November I read (and became completely obsessed with) Carry On.
- And I wrote a post about our need to be aware that we are living in the middle of history, and as a nation we should be mindful of our choices.
- Then I went to Seattle... seriously, with all the travel
- This is one of my favorite moments of the year, my sweet boy getting into the Christmas Spirit of giving.
- And Nick, Henry and I did a weekend in Louisville
- And the, you know, CHRISTMAS.

The Best of Bio Girl 2015
Welcome back to another year in review at good old Bio Girl! I could go on for a bit about how my blogging has changed over the last couple of years and how it's... well... not as good, but really, we all know I don't blog as often as I once did. Like everything else in life, this blog has evolved over the nine years I have been writing here, and honestly, I am just happy I still find the time at all. I do not manage to capture as much of our daily lives, but I do think I manage to at least partially capture the love we have for each other and this crazy life. (GOOD JOB, ME! Just keep blogging!) Anyway, here is this year's bullet-ed list of what I consider the tops posts of 2015!

Pre-Christmas Weekend Fun
So first things first, we saw Star Wars this weekend.
I mean, OF COURSE WE DID. Everyone did, right? And it was everything I hoped it would be. I loved this movie so freaking much. No spoilers or anything, but I know some people had issues with it. I am not one of those people. LOOOOOOVE.
Then on Saturday morning Nick and I hosted a family brunch so the kids could exchange presents and we could spend some time together.
We usually have a couple of family holiday events leading up to Christmas but with my aunt being ill those were canceled. I am so happy we decided to still get our three families together! We had so much fun.
Liz, Wes, and Cory
Me, Nick and Henry
And Boo Chris and Darcy
We exchanged presents, ate way too much food, and played a surprising amount of video games. It was perfect
THEN, on Sunday Nick, Henry and I packed up and heading on an overnight Christmas adventure. Randomly a week ago Nick sent me a link to a hotel that has a big Christmas event and said something along the lines of "???". I wrote back something else along the lines of "?!?!" and a plan was made!
The main attraction of the hotel Christmas event was this Kaleidoscope event where they take silk and lights and turn in into these huge Christmas decorations... sorta like these
But the scale is sorta hard to see with this picture, so maybe you are thinking small. No, think big.
We loved it all! Although somehow I think I overestimated how big the event would be. I thought it would like, take hours and hours.. possibly days. But turns out we were done after like an hour and a half. Still, it was a great hour and a half!
There were lots of random things for the kids to do, like build a snowman...
And ride a train
And talk to this tree...
And check out a ton of gingerbread houses including this huge one...
Plus we got to see this in the front lobby of the hotel, which was enjoyable.
But after that all wrapped up there was a lot of this going on. Which, I am not going to lie, was possibly more enjoyable for Henry that the giant silk Christmas decorations.
The next morning we got up and walked down to the Science museum, which was awesome.
I mean, who doesn't want to play in a space shuttle
or climb in this thing..
Or.. do this...
and this too...
Anyway, it was a great weekend. Crazy busy, but awesome. Now, it's time for Christmas!

This and That
I give you a post of random updates that individually don't seem to be enough to be their own blog post but strung together... now we are talking!
So the semester officially wrapped up today and I just submitted final grades for my class. I AM DONE. I mean, I still have other work things to do and what not, but as for class, it is over until JANUARY. All in all the semester went great. I enjoyed my group of kids and everything just seemed easier this time around. Still, I am happy to take a break from teaching for the next month!
Yesterday Henry had his class Christmas party and it was adorable.
I had to give my final exam to my students so I only got to stay for a bit but thank goodness Nanny was available to be there for the entire party!
What else... well, when I was at Henry's school I found his letter to Santa. We had heard all about the Lego Dimensions and the Blade Builder, but the CAT was news to us. We had to break the news to him that Santa doesn't have room for living animals on his sleigh, so he thought for a minute and said "Well... maybe I just want a pretend animal like Super Kitty"
Super Kitty IS pretty awesome... and he requires no litter box. Good thinking, kid.
In other random updates, we are going to be seeing Star Wars in T minus 3.5 hours. The wait is killing me...

In a (Gingerbread) Galaxy Far Far Away...
So, this post maybe would have never been written, but THEN it just seemed too perfect considering it' STAR WARS WEEK. Nick and I have our tickets for Friday night, and we are SO FREAKING EXCITED. Or maybe, I am SO FREAKING EXCITED and Nick is cautiously optimistic... he has not completely forgotten the disappointment of seeing Episodes 1-3...
Still, STAR WARS.
So when I was in Seattle I noticed over to the side of the check-in desk was a christmas tree that had lightsabers on it. I was intrigued but for some reason it didn't occur to me to actually walk over there and look at it for a a couple of days. Finally I was like "Maybe I should see what that's about and send a picture to Henry...
Yeah...
IT IS ALL MADE OUT OF CANDY
I have so many pictures of these things...
Episode One
Episode two
Episode Three
There were so many details, I tried to capture them in pictures....
CANDY. ALL FROM CANDY!
I tried to capture it, but didn't feel like I was that successful. There is just too much! Then, when I was checking out of the hotel at 4:30am I realized there was NOBODY ELSE AROUND, so you know, I took a three minute video of the entire thing. Because I THOUGHT THE WORLD NEEDED TO KNOW THE MAGIC THAT WAS MADE OUT OF CANDY.
So Enjoy :) And Let me know what you think of the new movie! You know, anytime after 7pm on Friday night!
